They just don&#8217;t have sufficient mechanical strength.  3 pin ( I know soap and water in some quarters) and 5 pin Cannons are great but a bit pricing.<\/p>\n<p>DMX wasn&#8217;t really planned for exterior use,  I base this comment on the fact that no weather proof connectors are recommended.<\/p>\n<p>So what to do?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Last season I cut a heap of weatherproof 3 pin male and female connectors off my LED light strings &#8211; they look ideal for the solution.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/baulkolites.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/DSCF2159.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-133\" title=\"DSCF2159\" src=\"http:\/\/baulkolites.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/DSCF2159.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"343\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I figured if I keep the same pin out as a Cannon 3 pin connector as in the table below, everything should be sweet.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_127\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/baulkolites.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/DMX_pinsRev2.gif\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-127\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-127\" title=\"DMX_pinsRev2\" src=\"http:\/\/baulkolites.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/DMX_pinsRev2-300x214.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-127\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">DMX Connections used by most Christmas Lights<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I hate using RJ45 connectors for DMX.
